Today we did the first first full scale medical simulation to an oil platform in the North Sea. We have done technical testing before, but never a full scale simulation including participation from an on call doctor onshore and a first aid team led by an offshore medic offshore, all participants performing in their natural working environment. Facilitated and remoetly controlled from SAFER Stavanger. We started working on this project in 2015, and the simulation today is the start of a larger pilot testing done in 5 different oil platforms. The premiere exceeded our expectations and was a great success. We suspect that this way of doing medical simulation can have a big impact on the way people in rural and remote healthcare train and maintain their clinical competence in the future.
